An easy stroll around the headland and just over half a mile in length. Park at Godrevy Head car park and follow the coastal path keeping the sea on your left. Stay on the path until you reach a slight decent past Mutton Cove (no access) and then take the footpath on the right back to the car park. A great walk for children as there are beaches, a lighthouse and even occasionally a pod of dolphins who reside in St Ives Bay can be seen. There is a stile and slight incline so this walk is not suitable for pushchairs or people with impaired mobility.
Taking place throughout the year, these walking tours give a facinating insight into the history, art and people of St Ives. Tours start from The Guildhall (Visitor Information Centre) and run for appoximately 75 minutes.
This level walk runs alongside the Copperhouse tidal pool, a reminder of Hayle's heyday during the Industrial Revolution which is now home to a rich variety of birdlife. The trail, about three quarters of a mile long, goes through former GWR land which was landscaped and planted as part of Hayle's Millenium Project and won gold in the South West in Bloom competition. Go on a Sunday during the summer, when the route is closed to vehicles, to enjoy a totally traffic-free stroll.
Leave Porthmeor Beach behind, skirt round Clodgy Point and then head inland towards Eagles Nest, the home of the late Patrick Heron, the abstract painter whose exhilaratingly colourful work crowns the entrance hall of the Tate of the West. Make your way towards Seal Island for a display of synchronized swimming by a squad of grey seals.
Local Historian Tony Farrell leads these facinating walks around St Ives and the local area. You can either join walks around the town or arrange a customised walk to see some of the interesting archaeological remains in the far south west.
This 2 mile walk along the coastal path has breath-taking views of rural and coastal scenery. If you don't feel like retracing your steps, after refreshments or lunch at The Gurnard's Head Hotel, the bus stop is outside the pub! Do check bus times if this is your plan as they vary depending on the time of year.
