At low tide this stretch of beach joins up with neighbouring Gwithian to create a long, impressive swathe of sand. It is fairly exposed, so can be quite windy. The lighthouse at it's northern tip was made famous in Virginia Woolfe's 'To The Lighthouse'.

Bassett's Cove

Also known as Spratting Cove, this small, sandy beach is reached by a slippery steep descent down the cliffs. There is a decent sized car park at the top of the cliff and dogs are allowed year round. For a beach with easier access try Portreath which is just over a mile away.

Trevellas-Porth Beach

Trevellas-Porth beach is a fisherman and snorkeler's dream. Quieter than its neighbouring coves, the north coast's Trevallas-Porth is characteristically rocky and surrounded by stunning scenery. Wander onto the sand at low tide before branching off onto the coast path. There is no lifeguard cover and dogs are welcome all year.

Castle Giver Cove

This beach is only accessable from Fishing Cove at low water, so take care with the tides as there is only one access route off Fishing Cove via the coastal path. At low tide the beach is sandy and dogs are allowed.

Deadman's Cove

The walk down to this beach is not for the faint-hearted, it is a narrow, steep, loose and rocky climb down. It is not advisable to swim here as there are strong currents. It has a small amount of sand and many rock pools.
