Marghas Yow Day is held in July and is a fiesta of music, magic, games and good old fashioned fun, in the town famed for St Micheal's Mount - a spectacular backdrop to the day.
Mid-morning, the mayor lobs a silver ball onto the beach and a war of rugby without rules breaks out to keep it. Decoys include oranges wrapped in silver foil and people in suits of ivy. The winner must return the ball at noon to claim a quid.
