Portscatho to Pendower Beach Walk

Park in Porthcurnick car park and follow the path through the gate and turn left downhill to meet the coastal path. With the sea on your righthand side follow the coastal path past the beaches of Porthcurnick, Pendower and Carne. The path is clearly marked but has stiles and access is limited for wheelchair users and pushchairs. When you reach Pendower you can take an alternative path inland and then onto a lane to return to Porthcurnick. The distance is approximately 4 miles and all areas are dog friendly.

Kennall Vale Gunpowder Works

Tucked away in a wooded valley near the village of Ponsanooth, the old Gunpowder Works were in operation from the 1800s until the early 20th Century, when they were forced to close due to the invention of dynamite. Today, the remains stand in a nature reserve maintained by The Cornwall Wildlife Trust. The old ruins, beech woods and Kennall river make for a pleasant walk. Park in the village of Ponsanooth, walk past the shop and up the steep hill. The reserve entrance is on your right.

Running alongside the waters of the Carrick Roads, this short walk from the village of Flushing to the yacht harbour and waterside church at Mylor Churchtown has wonderful views. It's about 2km from Trefusis Point to Churchtown.

Porthallow and Nare Point

Starting from the pretty fishing village of Porthallow, park on the pebbly beach and take the coastal path in an easterly direction.The path climbs up the cliff and then follows a route through heathland and grassland where Nare Head stands looking proudly out to sea about two miles away. This is a lovely scenic walk with views over the water towards St Mawes Head. Wear suitable footwear as the path is uneven at times and can be muddy.

Take the coastal path on this short walk of one and a half miles and enjoy two pretty beaches with clear, shallow water and some great rock pools. Take a picnic and don't forget your bucket and spade!

This 11 mile trail is ideally suited for cyclists and keen walkers and offers the chance to explore Cornwalls industrial history. It can be started from either Portreath on the North Cornish coast or Devoran on the South coast. Please see website link for starting point details if you decide to start from Devoran.

Froe Creek Circular

Park at Porth and head towards Towan beach and pick up the coastal path by turning right (the sea will be on your left). Follow the path all the way around to St Anthony Head where you can explore the battery and see the lighthouse. Carry on to Place House where you can either continue along the coastal path back to Porth or head inland to Bohortha and follow the path from there. Parts of the coastal path are hilly and not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Enjoy a cuppa when you reach Porth where the Thirsty Tea van parks during the summer months.

Take a full day to enjoy this wonderful coastal walk. Take the ferry from St Mawes to Place and follow the coastal path to Portheor and Towan beach. Enjoy lunch in Portscatho then walk up the hill to Gerrans Church along the lane towards Porth. Follow the signs along the shores of Porth Creek to North Hill Point until the path runs along the banks of Percuil River back to where you started. With stunning views and great places for lunch in Portscatho, this 9 mile walk is well worth the effort.
