Only a half hour walk from Cowes makes it well located for bigger days out, but you should find all you need here, with the sailing club keeping everyone entertained.

A bijou village that grew around the original Abbey at the head of the Beaulieu River. An ancient and pretty monastery village, home to the country's National Motor Museum.

Beaulieu Abbey

Ancient Abbey ruins were the centre of the village settlement and imparted its name. Now, Palace House is home to the Montagu family and there are exhibitions of monastic life with grounds and gardens to get lost in. Oh, and the famous motor museum of course.

A heritage haven in the heart of the New Forest, nestled on thebanks of the Beaulieu River, this is a whole village of maritime history. A shipbuilding village from the 18th Century, there are replica workshops, the Maritime Museum, cottages, cruises, and trails to follow. It's not too expensive and provides a unique day out for the whole family.
