Boscastle Coast and Countryside Walk

Starting in the picturesque seaside village of Boscastle, this four and a half mile walk explores the cliffs above the harbour then inland through woodland and along the river. This moderate walk has some steps and stiles with a few short, steep ascents. Why not visit the pub on your return to Boscastle and enjoy a well deserved pint.

Tintagel and the Rocky Valley

Initially heading inland from Tintagel Vistor Centre to magical St Nectan's Glen, through Rocky Valley and then along the coast to Tintagel Castle. The views of the coastline throughout this walk are spectacular. Along the way you'll come across a ruined village and Bronze Age carvings. It's around six miles at a moderate grading.

Brown Willy

Cornwall's highest summit (420m), affords views across the wild expanse of Bodmin Moor. On a good day, you can see across the county from Tintagel in the north to Fowey in the south. Drive north east of Camelford on the A39 Bude road, take the minor road to Tregoodwell and continue to the car park at the end of Roughtor Road. Bring a picnic or head to the infamous Jamaica Inn, now home to Daphne du Maurier memorabilia and a museum of smuggling.

Boscastle to Tintagel Walk

Boscastle is a great place to begin a walk and you can stock up with supplies from local shops before you set off. Park your car at the Heritage Centre in the centree and start the walk from the west side of the river. Climb up above the harbour and from this point follow the undulating coastal path. It is steep in places (muddy in winter months) and not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. The views are spectacular, tall cliffs and rocky valleys. See the watch tower on the headland and pop down to the beach at Bosinney Haven (only visible at low tide). The walk is about 5 miles and the Castle is well worth a visit when you reach Tintagel. You can catch a local bus back if tired but why not re-fuel with a cream tea before returning? Dog friendly beaches at Tintagel Haven and Bossiney Haven.

Tintagel to Boscastle

A nine mile, moderate (not easy!) walk taking in stunning coastline, a pretty fishing harbour and magical St Nectan's Glen. Be careful if there's been lots of rain, it makes some parts particularly messy, and there are some steep ascents along the coast. It's worth factoring in time to have a meander around one of England's prettiest harbours. This is a good, varied walk for a day out.
