Once a haunt for smugglers and wreckers, this 13th Century freehouse has provided sustenance for weary travellers for centuries. Today you can dine on fresh, local produce, or enjoy a refreshing pint after a hard day's stomp on the coast path. The log fire, large beer garden and children's play-area make it ideal for all seasons. Booking is advisable.

Sheltered, attractive pebbly beach at high tide. At low tide, sand and rocks are exposed with plenty of rock pools to explore. Reached via a wooded valley.

The museum is set in the castle and offers an interesting insight into life in Bude, its varied geology, history and its progression from a port to most recently a surfing centre. Education facilities, a shop and restaurant are on site and the restaurant has stunning views.

From the National Trust car park, it's a bit of a steep climb down to this secluded beach, but that makes it a good spot to escape the crowds. Sandy at low tide.

This small peaceful cove is famous for its zigzag formation towering high above the shore. The shingle beach provides a haven for those wanting to wave watch or observe the wildlife. Why not take a wander south to Butterfly Valley?
