An interesting thirteen mile hike along the Cornish Coastal Path with stunning coastal views taking in Mount Edgcumbe Country Park and several pretty Cornish villages with obligatory watering holes! Make sure you plan your journey back as public transport in the area is limited.

The greater estate is a wonderful place to take your dog. Wander along miles of wooded paths with views of the river and surrounding countryside. Walk to the Old Quay and Discovery Centre or perhaps take a boat trip on the river in summer.

Portscatho to Pendower Beach Walk

Park in Porthcurnick car park and follow the path through the gate and turn left downhill to meet the coastal path. With the sea on your righthand side follow the coastal path past the beaches of Porthcurnick, Pendower and Carne. The path is clearly marked but has stiles and access is limited for wheelchair users and pushchairs. When you reach Pendower you can take an alternative path inland and then onto a lane to return to Porthcurnick. The distance is approximately 4 miles and all areas are dog friendly.

Talland Bay and Looe Walk

A five mile walk best suited to the energetic as the paths are rough in places with some steep ascent/descent (and muddy in winter!). Start from the car park at Talland Bay and turn left through the kissing gate onto the coastal path. Climb the steps and follow the path to Looe. Enjoy the dramatic coastline with rugged cliffs and stunning scenery as you drop down into the town. Looe is a great place to stop for a break and sightseeing so enjoy your time there before heading back either the way you came or by turning inland, up West Looe Hill onto the main Polperro Road turning left before you reach it to the sharp right-hand bend at Tencreek. Follow the footpath through the caravan park and keep to the waymarkers through the fields to the bottom. On reaching the road turn right toTalland Bay. Not suitable wheelchair users or pushchairs.

Luxulyan Valley Circular Walk

iwalkcornwall.co.uk have some great walks in the area including this lovely circular three and a half mile ramble following leats and horse-drawn tramways through the World Heritage site of the Luxulyan Valley. Recommended in guide books as early as the 1920's as "one of the most glorious walks in all Cornwall" take a look at the link for further details.

Kennall Vale Gunpowder Works

Tucked away in a wooded valley near the village of Ponsanooth, the old Gunpowder Works were in operation from the 1800s until the early 20th Century, when they were forced to close due to the invention of dynamite. Today, the remains stand in a nature reserve maintained by The Cornwall Wildlife Trust. The old ruins, beech woods and Kennall river make for a pleasant walk. Park in the village of Ponsanooth, walk past the shop and up the steep hill. The reserve entrance is on your right.

A lovely walk of just under five and a half miles which follows the costal path with stunning cliff top views and inland footpaths through nature reserves and woodlands. Two pubs en-route ensure you have the opportunity for a refreshment break.

St Breward on Bodmin Moor

A good moorland walk starting from the church in St Breward, on the western side of the moor. The views include Britain's first commercial wind farm at Delabole, then the lovely wooded valley of the Camel estuary.

Lerryn to St Winnow Church 5 mile circular walk

If you're feeling brave cross the stepping stones across the river to begin your walk otherwise there is an ancient bridge. Enjoy the beauty of Ethy woods with breath-taking views down the estuary to Fowey. An easy walk but remember to keep your dogs on leads when walking across farmland. The village shop in Lerryn offers refreshments. Limited free car parking in the village.
