Calling all cheese lovers: this Lyme Regis cheesemonger was proclaimed Best New Cheese Retailer in the UK at the British Cheese Awards 2009. They also stock Dorset-made ice cream and sorbets from Barford Farm.

Situated on the historic Cobb harbour in Lyme Regis. Choose from fresh fish, crab, lobster or whatever happens to have been freshly landed that day. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Clarissa Dickson-Wright, Charlie Boorman and Mark Hix are all fans. In 2009 The Old Watch House won silver for best retail shop in the Taste of the West awards.

Set in 15 acres in the lovely Isle of Purbeck region of Dorset. This family-run pick your own farm has been growing fruit and veg since the 1970s. There's also a farm shop, plant nursery and tea room here where you can enjoy a cream tea made with Holme made jam.

They stock everything here from fresh local veg, freshly laid eggs and local cheeses, to organic fruit, local juices and home produced meat and game in season. Feeling peckish? Drop in to the Tearoom for a traditional farmhouse breakfast or a Dorset cream tea. Now also listed in the 2011 Times "Britain's best farm shops" guide.

Stock up on organic veg and British beef grown and reared on the farm. Goldhill has been an organic farm since 1988.
Butchering since 1535, Britain's oldest family business is still going strong. Farm shops may be the in-thing, but this is the real thing.
At Barford they use milk from their own herd of cows to make this scrumtious Dorset ice cream. Handily, the farm is on the Stour Valley Walk and the North Dorset cycle route, so you can stop off for a well-earned ice cream break. Choose from a huge array of flavours, inlcuding Double Liquorice.
Go celeb-spotting; Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall can sometimes be found here, selling produce from his River Cottage HQ, alongside 30 other local producers. Held in the Arts Centre on the second Saturday of the month, 9am-1pm.
