Open daily, entry is free and you can wander the site to say hello to over 100 donkeys and ponies. Dogs are welcome and Grazers Cafe offers refreshments. Donations to support the sanctuary are very welcome.

The Eden Project

It hardly needs any introduction…This global garden with its iconic Biomes is home to millions of plants and flowers reflecting the diversity of our planet. Marvel at the largest greenhouse in the world, see internationally-acclaimed architecture and art inspired by nature, or go to a gig at the renowned Eden Sessions. Children can learn about humans' complex relationship with nature in The Core interactive education centre or go free-range and explore trails, hideaways and sandpits. A wide range of cafes and restaurants provide delicious, responsibly-resourced refuelling stops and the shop is crammed full of interesting gift and souvenir ideas. An organic project that just keeps on growing, a visit to The Eden Project is an awe-inspiring experience. You can also have a go on the new zip wire, reported to be the longest in England - go on, you know you want to!!

New Forest Wildlife Park

A conservation experience in the heart of the New Forest, these guys are doing good things when it comes to rehabilitation and species management. Go and enjoy the countryside whilst admiring animals from far and wide. It's very well set up, welcoming to disabled visitors, but not dog-friendly.

Monkey World

The whole spectrum from chimpanzees and orangutans to marmosets - most have been rescued and all are incredible. This sanctuary does an amazing job at looking after the animals, yet allowing the public to enjoy them, without making too much of a spectacle. Fascinating, sad, heart-warming and fun - you can't tire of the monkey antics but there are impressive play parks for the kids to imitate the apes, should they so wish.

A large area of woodland maintained by the Forestry Commission. There's miles of woodland walks suitable for both walkers and mountain bikers. The red squirrel hide is a great place to spot wildlife from.
